Level of Service Master Plan Public Meeting - We Need Your Help!

The Jacksonville Recreation and Parks Department cares what you think. As we begin the process of developing a Level of Service Master Plan for the Recreation and Parks Department we would like your input and participation.
Please join us on March 22nd from 7 PM - 9 PM at the Jacksonville Commons Recreation Center.
Women's History Month
Let's take this opportunity in March to celebrate just a few women from around the globe who have made a significant contribution to history throughout the world. Please visit the Recreation and Parks page each day this month to learn some interesting facts and celebrate Women's History .
Sandra Day O’Connor 
Ranked the second most powerful woman in America by the Ladies’ Home Journal, Sandra Day O’Conner was the first female member of the Supreme Court of the United States. Appointed by President Ronald Reagan, she served as an Associate Justice from 1981 until her retirement in 2006. Sandra Day O’Conner earned her reputation concerning [moderate] conservative constitutional law shaping in several areas such as voting rights, church and state issues, and abortion. In August of 2009 she was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom, which is the highest civilian honor of the United States, by President Obama. Sandra still continues to hear cases filling in as a substitute judge when the panel is understaffed.

Arbor Day Celebration
March 25th, 2010
Celebrate Arbor Day with the Beautification and Appearance Commission and the City of Jacksonville at Bellfork Elementary School! The Arbor Day theme for 2010 is Trees are Terrific...and Energy Wise! Jacksonville is celebrating its 30th year as a Tree City USA member. The NC Division of Forest Resources will be presenting the award at the Arbor Day Celebration along with the Onslow County Forest Ranger and Smokey the Bear!
