 Get Ready for the Census!
It Really Matters to Jacksonville
Ever complain that a business you like is not in Jacksonville? Ever Wonder why we don't get the roads and streets we need? Sometimes, it's all because the Census numbers did not attract business investors, or officials just did not think we had enough population to justify the expense.
Census Day 2010
Beginning next month, Census forms will be mailed out to homes in Jacksonville. There are only 10 questions and it's estimated that it will take about 10 minutes to fill out. The days of some people getting the long form and others not, are gone.
We Count Here!
Camp Lejeune Commander Colonel Richard Flatau and his family (right) live in Jacksonville and that's where they count for the Census. When you get your Census form, fill it out. Doing so does not change your residency, home of record or any other official document. It does make your family count as part of the Census count for our community. It's where you live now.

The Impact is Great
The Census determines how revenues are shared among governments, how businesses make decisions about where to locate, and impacts in countless other ways. It is vital for Jacksonville to have an accurate count.
It's Confidential
Census workers take an oath to keep the information confidential. The Census Bureau does not share the information with any other agency, not the IRS, not Immigration, not anyone. And it stays confidential for 72 years.
Job Opportunities
The Census Bureau is looking for 2,000 people to be in their job pool in Onslow County. They pay $10 to $15 and hour for most positions that will be in Onslow County. If you would like more information about jobs, call 866.861.2010 or visit 2010censusjobs.gov
