Council Members do not maintain offices at City Hall; however, you may write to the City Council as a group in care of City Hall, PO Box 128, Jacksonville, NC 28541.

What day is my trash/recycling collected?

Call the Sanitation Division at 910.938.5338 or view the schedule here. We request that your containers are placed at the curb by 7:30am on your designated collection day.

What items are recyclable?

Plastics, glass, aluminum, steel and several paper products. A list of recyclable items are included with your container when it is delivered. Or you view the City Recycling Page here.

My street light is out in front of my house (on my street) can you send someone to fix it.

Street lights within the city limits belong to the electric utility companies i.e. Progress Energy or Jones Onslow EMC. Call the company that you pay your electric bill to, give them the pole number which is located on the pole of the street light, this will enable the company to locate the pole.

How do I get a copy of a Police Report?

You can request it by mail, include a self addressed/stamped envelope, or come in to the police department, 206 N. Marine Boulevard, Monday through Sunday, 08:00 am – 12:00 am. There is no charge; however, you must a victim or representative/agent of a victim involved to receive a copy of a report.

What telephone number do I call to report a non emergency situation like a noise complaint or a crime that did not just occur?

Most non emergency situations should be reported by calling the police department’s business numbers, 910.455.1472 or 910.455.1572.

My car was towed how do I get it back?

There are several circumstances for which a car is towed. You should first call the department to see if your vehicle has been towed by the police and if so, ask if it is releasable. Prior to coming to the station you should bring with you proof of ownership, driver’s license, and vehicle registration.

How do I set up water service with the City?

Visit the utility billing office located in City Hall (815 New Bridge St.). Service needs to be set up prior to 2 p.m. to receive same day service.

Where do I call for an after-hours emergency?

After working hours or during holidays, water and sewer emergencies can be reported by calling 910.938.5234. Emergency reconnects need to be called in by 7 p.m. There will be an additional fee of $55.00.

Is a permit required to build a deck?

Yes. We need application for building permit, plot map showing where it’s going and what the setbacks are from the two closest property lines, and either a detail drawing or a detailed scope of work of what you’re doing and how you’re doing it, type and size of materials.
